The tool loads your image locally, draws it on an HTML canvas at the exact output resolution, and exports a PNG with your zoom and position applied. There is no upload step by design: the file is read by your browser, processed by your browser, and downloaded from your browser. It never touches our servers.
Output presets match the platforms' current published specs (checked July 2026): stories on Instagram and TikTok are 1080x1920 (9:16), Instagram portrait posts are 1080x1350 (4:5), square posts are 1080x1080, YouTube recommends an 800x800 profile picture, and X headers are 1500x500. The generic square profile preset exports 512x512, which is Telegram's profile size and scales cleanly everywhere profile pictures are circles.
Uploading an image at the exact target size avoids the platform's own recompression doing the cropping for you. When a platform scales your image down, faces drift off-center and text near edges gets cut, because platforms crop to fill from the center; cropping yourself keeps the composition decision in your hands.
Exports are PNG for lossless quality. Platforms recompress on upload anyway, so starting lossless means only one generation of compression is applied to your image, not two.

Is my photo uploaded to your server?
No. The cropper runs entirely in your browser using the canvas API. Your image never leaves your device, we never see it, and nothing is stored. You can verify this: the page makes no network requests while you crop.
What size should a profile picture be?
Square, and bigger than the display size so the platform scales down rather than up. 512x512 covers Telegram's spec exactly and works well on Instagram, TikTok, and X; YouTube recommends 800x800. Since most platforms display profile pictures as circles, keep the subject centered.
What is the correct story size?
1080x1920 pixels, a 9:16 aspect ratio, on both Instagram and TikTok. Images in other ratios get cropped or letterboxed by the platform, so resizing to exactly 9:16 first is the only way to control what stays in frame.
Why is my picture blurry after uploading to a platform?
Usually because the source was smaller than the platform's display size, forcing an upscale, or because heavy recompression hit an already-compressed JPEG. Export from this tool at the exact preset size as PNG, and the platform's compression is the only loss applied.
Which formats can I load?
Anything your browser can decode: JPEG, PNG, WebP, and in most browsers AVIF and HEIC-converted files. The export is always PNG.
