How Shorts earnings are estimated

YouTube Shorts monetize from a shared Shorts Feed ad pool rather than per-video AdSense. YouTube allocates part of that pool to creators (roughly 45% of the revenue attributed to Shorts ads) and splits it by each creator's share of total Shorts views. The practical result is an effective RPM, revenue per 1,000 views, that is much lower than long-form video.

This calculator multiplies your monthly Shorts views by an RPM. If you know your own Shorts RPM from YouTube Studio, enter it for an exact figure. Otherwise it uses a rule-of-thumb RPM range based on where most of your viewers watch, since audience geography is the biggest driver of ad rates.

Every figure is an estimate. Real Shorts RPM commonly lands between one and ten cents per 1,000 views and moves with seasonality (lower in January, higher toward the end of the year), the mix of monetized versus non-monetized views, and how many of your views come from higher-paying regions.
